ROYAL PALACE GATCHINA
The Palace or Royal Palace of Gatchina is located in the Leningrad Region not far from St. Petersburg. It was built by the Italian architect Antonio Rinaldi by order of Count Grigori Grigorevich Orlov (he was the favorite of Queen Catherine II) after that Tsarina gave him this plot of land. At the death of Count Orlov the palace was given by Tsarina to Tsar Paul I who had it modernized and modified in its appearance by an Italian architect Brenna. The palace looks like a medieval castle externally with a moat and bridge drawbridge. Internally it is in a neoclassical Russian style with very beautiful interiors, with movable paintings that were partly brought by the Tsar from the Hermitage.
